About the event
The 2nd Testament writers believed that the prophets were talking about Jesus, to fit into the understanding of the Jewish covenant with God. Yet the actual purpose of the prophets was not to pave the way for Jesus, but to offer the Jewish people a path through judgement, lament and hope.
In this lecture, Rev. Sandy will describe the radical alternatives offered to the Jewish people by the 1st Testament prophets, and the way Jesus acted in the mode of the prophets, encouraging radical change. Sandy will reference Abraham and others in relationship with God – stories of faith. He will also address Paul’s letter to the Romans in which Paul describes Christianity as grafted on to the original covenant.
The lecture will be posted on the Strathearn United Church YouTube channel on Tuesday, April, 8, 2025.
Following Sandy’s lecture, you are invited to join us for an in-person conversation…
