Outward Journey 2021: “28 Days of Giving”
This year during Lent, Strathearn's Outward Journey campaign will support the Edmonton Food Bank. Lent starts Feb 21, but our challenge is “28 Days of Giving” during the month of February.
Food security is an issue for many more people this year in Edmonton. COVID-19 restrictions continue so at this time we will GIVE MONEY. Funds are always needed to provide services and purchase food.
With $1 a day collectively, WE CAN HELP. Please donate $28 or any amount you would like to give to this vital organization. Make cheques payable to Strathearn United Church and indicate on your cheque or envelope that it goes to the Edmonton Food Bank. Thank you for your generosity! Together we can make a difference for those in need.
About Mission and Outreach:
The primary role of the Mission & Outreach Committee is to bring awareness to the congregation of specific needs within the Edmonton and area community. Our committee selects projects to become involved with throughout the calendar year. Typical projects include: sponsoring a Mustard Seed Dinner, providing and serving lunch for the Inner City Pastoral Ministry (ICPM) program held at Bissell Centre, and an annual Outward Journey Project, to support one or more specific need of recipient charities in our community.
During the Advent season, we have a Mitten Tree collection and a White Gift Sunday supporting the Bissell Centre. We also take part in the annual No Room In the Inn campaign, collecting donations for a designated recipient, to help end homelessness in Edmonton and area.
We also encourage weekly donations in our regular offerings to the Mission & Service Fund of The United Church of Canada, to help with crisis, missions, and social injustices in Canada and around the world.
