About the event
Breaking bread together has long been a practice of Christian communities. It’s a moment we use to recognize Jesus’ presence, having been initiated by Him on the night before His crucifixion. Although familiar to us, it was not familiar in early Christian times and had to be established. The early church struggled with implementation, and questions arose that concerned both believers and the apostles. Meanwhile, the Romans were suspicious of the early Christian communal meals. It seems there was upset all around!
Come and explore the mystery and history of the breaking of bread.
The lecture will be posted on the Strathearn United Church YouTube channel on Thursday, February 12, 2026.
