About the event
The University of British Columbia, in its equity and inclusion glossary, defines inclusion as “an active, intentional, and continuous process to address inequities in power and privilege, and to build a respectful and diverse community that ensures welcoming spaces and opportunities to flourish for all”. What does inclusive worthiness mean within our society? How is it practiced? What do the scriptures have to say about it?
Using Paul’s letters to the Corinthians, Rev. Sandy will address this topic. In addition, he will reference Titus and Timothy in considering the dark side of rejecting inclusive worthiness.
The lecture will be posted to the Strathearn United Church YouTube channel on September 12th, 2024.
Following Sandy’s lecture, you are invited to join us for an in-person conversation on this topic.
Points for reflection and/or discussion may include:
- How do we, as Christians, determine worth?
- How do our behaviours reflect/contribute to an inclusive community?
- What would it look like if God ruled the world?
Participants are also invited to bring their own questions and insights to the safe and welcoming environment of this conversation.
All are welcome!
