About the event

Using the creation narrative in Genesis as his focus, Rev. Sandy invites us to consider the role of religion in medical science and if/how religion has evolved to be part of the conversation.  This lecture aims to help us understand how the United Church as an institution approaches this issue.  Examples shared in the lecture may include: assisted death, novel reproductive technologies, gender affirming medical supports, and the applications of artificial intelligence.

The lecture will be posted to YouTube on Tuesday, February 6th, 2024.

On February 13th, you are invited to join us for an in-person conversation on this topic, in the Upper Room.

Participants are invited, if they so wish, to bring their own questions and insights to the safe and welcoming environment of this conversation.

Additional points for discussion may include:

  • What does "playing God" look like?
  • How do we "play God" in our world?
  • What choices do we make? How do we make them?
  • What rituals can we create to respect the decisions of others?

ALL ARE WELCOME!
